Amongst many damages, hurricane Lala has caused floodwaters to move a massive amount of debris across Highway 11 through Nāʻālehu, cutting the town off from both Kona and Hilo.  It has ripped through the cemetery, leaving bones and headstones scattered. Dozens of houses, if not more, are reportedly gone, uprooted by winds that topped 80 miles per hour.
