Hawaiian Language Schools
The Kamehameha Foundation is currently raising money to support Hawaiian language charter schools in Hawaiʻi.
The Hawaiian Language was banned after the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1893. Under the occupied government, the Hawaiian language was not to be taught in Hawaiʻi, suppressing Hawaiian culture.
Today Hawaiian language charter schools teach olelo to our young keiki and now the Hawaiian language is prospering today as our people are now speaking fluent Hawaiian.
Please help to support this most important benefit for the Hawaiian language charter schools.
